Webinar: Key Aspects of Economic Substance Regulations Dubai Chamber Event

The UAE issued the Economic Substance Regulations in 2019 and followed by an updated guidance on relevant activities by the Ministry of Finance to help businesses to demonstrate economic presence in the UAE.

This webinar will examine the latest developments and provide guidance with respect to the economic substance regime and compliance requirements. Organized by Dubai Chamber in collaboration with Al Tamimi & Company.

Objectives: This webinar will provide the attendees with:

  • The mechanism of reporting and filing
  • An awareness of common issues and best practices

Speakers:

  • Izabella Szadkowska is a Partner in the Corporate Structuring Team and specializes in corporate and commercial works as well as merger and acquisition transactions. She provides advice on corporate restructuring, trust structures, ownership, incorporation, transfer of incorporation, and corporate services.

  • Noff Al-Khafaji is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Structuring Department and has over seven years of corporate structuring experience, working on a variety of corporate and advisory matters for both national and multinational clients with particular expertise in dealing with the Dubai International Financial Centre.

  • Shiraz Khan is a UK-qualified lawyer with over 21 years of international tax experience. Prior to joining Al Tamimi, he was the global head of tax at a leading multinational where he was responsible for the tax affairs in over 100 countries. He has also worked for a top international law firm in the UK and 4 big firms in both the UK and the Middle East.

  • Janet Gooi is a UK and Malaysian-qualified lawyer. She specialises in advising on corporate tax, withholding tax, economic substance, and VAT aspects in a broad range of industry sectors, including technology, finance, luxury retail, real estate, and telecommunications, with in-depth experience and knowledge on international tax structuring, complex tax litigation and tax aspects of cross border M&A, restructuring and private equity transactions.
